Generating New Blog Ideas

Where do you get your ideas from?

So writing blog articles can be a passion and a burden all at once. Often times as bloggers we find ourselves coming up with awesome ideas but maybe not capturing them in the moment. I often times get the best darn ideas when I’m taking a shower, or driving in my car. I’ve started to capture these thoughts as soon as possible. Most new smart-phones have audio voice recorders on them. If you have a smart-phone with this feature, use it. It’s such a BOSS tool you can just hit record and capture all those amazing ideas before they go to waste.

Find a way to capture those thoughts, no matter how silly, stupid or crazy.

Also, I recommend keeping a notepad in the bathroom. I know this sounds crazy. But when we are in the bathroom we are usually performing mundane tasks and we are on auto pilot. Being on auto pilot allows our thoughts and minds to wander and take us on adventures and journeys that might lead to some totally kickin content.

If you are a blogger you’ve probably heard the term “content is king” but the reality is “context is king” at least for me. Having all of these thoughts jotted or digitally recorded, organizing them and scheduling them out on a calendar will most definitely help put you in a direction of blogging consistently without worrying about “what am I going to write about today” when you do finally sit down to write that masterpiece.

I encourage you as a reader and a writer to take to heart some ways to capture those moments when you are performing the mundane rituals to increase the “idea pool” when you are ready to take the plunge on that next post.

The video below is my rambling thoughts discussing some thoughts I’ve been having around creating content, connecting with people online in a emotional / human manner that establishes a friend or community type of vibe. This post is a bit scattered between finding ideas, referencing sources, and making sure those ideas are captured to refer back to at a later time. I am going to be writing about this more, this initial post is to start putting my thoughts out there and hopefully collaborating with others online.

I’d love to hear your ideas…

hey buddy. just found this new blog of yours and looks like you’ve got some similar posts to what i’ve done at tentblogger.com.

what’s your secret sauce that you’re bringing to the table?

Hey John, thanks for dropping by. I was inspired to start this from the “tentblogger” concept. Building blogs together is something that I am pushing as my motto. Definitely working through some branding issues, my main perosna is “http://joshcaza.com” and this particular site is niche to sharing all my years of knowledge “stemming from running Galacticomm Major BBS, to Linuxcrypt.net, Ubuntu Podcast all of it” coming together here.

I’ve mapped this entire site out before I launched it. Now it’s just spending the time on executing it in an organized fashion….

“Keep a notepad in the bathroom”. Love it! I get my best thoughts showering, mowing the lawn, and driving long distances on the highway. :-P

Thanks for dropping by and I appreciate the comment Jonathan. I do often have those thoughts driving and doing yard work. When driving, if you have an iphone or android though, use your voice recorder, don’t let those thoughts be lost! Thanks again for the comment.
